Adventure awaits those with open eyes!
Hello awesome angels!
What adventurous activity gets you going?
I don’t mean ‘out there’ adventure like bungy jumping or chasing tornadoes around the world (yes, people actually do this!), I mean doing things that are out of your comfort zone that can kickstart a little bit of an adrenalin buzz for you and create some excitement in your life, every day.
The dictionary tells us that adventure is to be “Willing to take risks or to try out new methods, ideas, or experiences.” And that gorgeous girls is exactly what I mean!
When my daughter got married in 2015, I gifted the bride and groom four pieces of “Jenny Wisdom” in my wedding speech;
Always follow your heart
Laugh every day
Say ‘I love you’ a lot.
Be adventurous was at the top because it’s so important! So, what does ‘being adventurous’ look like? In my world it means stepping outside of my comfort zone and doing at least one thing that excites me every day. It actually brings vibrancy into each day, regardless of what else may be going on in your life at that time – it’s awesome!
It doesn’t have to be a big thing – my risk this morning was climbing through the sand dune fence and stealing some freesias to bring home and make my home more beautiful (shhhh don’t tell anyone!)
Also, writing this blog post today - my first ever, is pretty big for me. WOW, I have completed two adventures in 24-hours – woohoo, I feel amazing!!
By the way, my daughter and her husband moved to Europe after their wedding and are living their dream in the music business. They have new adventures every day, often doing things or arriving at places they never expected and loving every minute.
So, ask yourself this: What would my life be like if I did something that scared me (even just a little) every single day?
To help with this, try the very easy challenge below from www.tinybuddah.com for the next seven days. It could be fun!
Let me know how you go, and what it feels like - I’d love to hear your feedback!
How would life be if I took one small risk each day?
I’d like to challenge you not only to ask the question, but to live it for seven days and see what happens!
--- Here's what you do ---
Get seven blank cards, and put them by your bed. Every morning when you wake up, write down one tiny risk you’d like to take that day—something that scares you but would make your life better.
Then, go and do it! Find a moment in your day, every day, and take that tiny risk.
If you need some ideas to get started, here are a few:
Talk to a stranger on the street
Speak your mind to someone you work with
Travel somewhere new
Ask for something you don’t think you’ll get
Give an impromptu public speech
Negotiate with someone
Give away something you can’t afford to lose
Before you go to bed, turn the card over and write how you felt when you took that risk. When the seven days are up, look through the cards again. Read your responses, and ask yourself:
Is my life better today than it was seven days ago?
If the answer is no, then feel free to stop; nothing more is required. But if the answer is yes........
.....welcome to an exciting new world!!
Lastly, I’d like to share with you one of my favourite simple but profound quotes about ‘adventure’. It’s written by Helen Keller from her book ‘The Open Door’ and it gets you thinking....
“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.”
